Our Unique Practice

Our practice has a very loyal and dentally-motivated patient base, as the only people we currently see are the 1,225 patients who have their next hygiene appointment scheduled. This provides a solid base with over 190 hygiene appointments averaged per month. We have never taken Medicaid or been a “preferred provider” for any plan, so nothing is written off. Around 57% of our patients have dental insurance, which we submit for them as a courtesy. Our collection rate on production is consistently around 99%. We have never felt the need to advertise; and in recent years, have referred out many services to excellent specialists that could be kept “in house”, if desired, for a significant increase in revenue. These outsourced services include dentures, orthodontics, endodontics, wisdom teeth, and implants. Adding these services and opening the practice to new patients again would clearly boost productivity. During the last 30 years production has always been between $600-800k per year. Currently the office is open Monday-Thursday and we are through with patients by 3:30pm.

Our office culture is professional, but somewhat laid-back in comparison to most dental practices. We are fairly low stress. We enjoy our patients and most truly are considered as friends by our team. There is a closeness, familiarity, and mutual respect with our patients, which makes practicing truly fulfilling.

Forty years ago I began my dental career in a cute brick building in Huntsville, MO, continuing a legacy of continuous dental care now 77 years in this location. Now I am simply ready to transition to a different season of life. I would love to find a situation that would be beneficial to our great patients, team, and town. Just as important, I want a scenario that is great for my successor. In recent years, the practice has been professionally appraised by separate appraisers in excess of $500k. I am offering to sell to the right individual for $170K, less than a third of the lower appraisal. Bottom line, while the practice can be purchased very reasonably, I feel the most important factors are a buyer finding financial success, professional fulfillment, and also a good quality of life. Our office is located in Huntsville, a town of 1,500 people, but a high percentage of our patients come from Moberly (14,000 people) about five minutes away. We feel we are rural in best sense of the word. We may not have all of the things that cities offer, but our relaxed pace and quality of life also doesn’t have many of the aggravations of larger areas.

We are approximately 40 minutes away from the university city of Columbia (entertainment, shopping, fine dining, and SEC conference sports), and slightly over two hours from St. Louis and Kansas City. All three cities have excellent airports.

Moberly has hundreds of acres of parks and there are three large lake reservoirs within 45 minutes to provide boating and other outdoor adventures. Further south in the state you will find the acclaimed Lake of the Ozarks and clear streams in the Ozark Scenic Riverways. Whatever your interest, you should find ample opportunities.
